Reading
All children should have class books to read. If they have read these in three different ways (read the pictures, read the words, retell the story) they can choose a 'good fit' book from home to practise with.
Spelling
We have two 'words of the week'. These are day and they. The reason for this is the children are starting to learn that words that rhyme (have the same end sound) can have different spellings. I noticed some were writing 'thay' which is perfectly logical if you think about it, but of course English isn't always logical.
Maths
If you have access to a computer the children can try Mathletics at home. I have set tasks for all the children based on what they are learning/ next steps. I've also planned time in class to work on these tasks.
